Student and Young Practitioner Month takes place in October 2024

Join the Conversation: 2024 Student and Young Practitioners Month focuses on Responsible Communication

The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management is excited to announce the launch of its annual Student and Young Practitioners (SYP) Month, set to take place in October 2024. This year’s theme, Responsible Communication, aims to empower emerging PR professionals—students and young practitioners—through a dynamic series of global events, forums, and recognition programs.

This initiative celebrates the next generation of public relations leaders, offering them a platform to collaborate, learn, and demonstrate their commitment to ethical and responsible communication practices.

Key Events of the #NextInLine Initiative

  1. #NextInLine Rocket Forums
The #NextInLine Rocket Forums will engage participants through six regional forums, focusing on dialogue and collaboration. These forums are divided into student and young practitioner tracks and will emphasize the importance of creating actionable strategies for responsible communication. Participants will also commit to the #NextInLine Manifesto, a pledge to uphold ethical communication standards in their careers.

  2. #NextInLine Hero Web Conference
This virtual roundtable will bring together top-notch young speakers from around the globe, from recent graduates to industry leaders, to discuss the future of responsible communication. The event will feature interactive discussions, shared insights, and offer participants valuable takeaways on maintaining ethical standards in their work.

  3. #NextInLine Responsible Communicators’ Recognition
To spotlight innovation and leadership, 60 exceptional young communication leaders from universities, organizations, agencies, and brands across six global regions will be recognized for their outstanding contributions in innovation, social impact, and responsible communication. These future leaders will be honoured at #NextInLine Hero Web Conference for their role in shaping the industry's future.

Additional Highlights:

  1. Launch of the SYP Careers Microsite
This microsite will provide seamless access to job and internship opportunities for students and young practitioners, helping them to jumpstart their careers in public relations and communication.

  2. Launch of the SYP Digital Resource Hub
Complementing the careers microsite, the SYP Digital Resource Hub will offer a wealth of resources specifically designed for young professionals, providing them with tools to enhance their skills and knowledge in responsible communication.

Why SYP Month Matters

The Global Alliance’s SYP Month offers an unparalleled opportunity for students and young practitioners to engage with industry leaders, connect with peers, and contribute to the global conversation around responsible communication. Through these events and initiatives, the Global Alliance is fostering a culture of ethical communication, empowering the next generation of professionals to make meaningful contributions to the industry.

“We believe in the power of the next generation to drive meaningful change in the world of public relations and communication,” said Ana Pista, Board Member of Global Alliance and Chair of Student & Young Practitioners Month. “Student and Young Practitioners Month is about giving these emerging leaders the tools, resources, and platforms they need to create a responsible and ethical future for communication.”

World Youth PR & Communications Convention Set for November

From November 29 to December 2, 2021 the confederation of the world's major PR and communication associations, the Global Alliance, will hold IMPACT: The Global Youth Public Relations & Communications Convention as part of its Youth and Young Practitioners Month.

This is the first-ever online international convention that will engage both the professional and academic sectors in the PR and communications industry to foster effective collaboration and transfer of knowledge.

The goal is to equip PR & communications students with the knowledge and tools that will aid them in navigating the industry, and for young PR & communications practitioners to better adapt to emerging trends and new realities in their profession.

Public Relations and Its Impact

The PR industry impacts different sectors of society on a local and global scale.

“IMPACT” is highlighted as the main theme for the Global Youth Public Relations Convention. The IM from IMPACT asserts the crucial role of every PR & communications student and young professional in delivering PR efficiently, effectively, and with impact. Each PR & communications professional should use his or her influence and knowledge for the good of society.

All of this is sealed in a PACT, where PR & communications pros help usher their countries to the unconventional new normal. Professionals and students alike must strive to create meaningful partnerships to influence and affect change for good.
