Global Alliance Latin America Regional Council Welcomes New Members

The Latin American Regional Council of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management recently convened a meeting to welcome its newest members and engage in discussions regarding the pivotal role of communication leaders in Latin America. Chaired by Aberje's Executive Director, Hamilton dos Santos, who also serves on the Global Alliance board, the council convened to deliberate on pertinent regional matters.

Alongside Santos, the council welcomed esteemed members: Analia Canale from Cambras (Argentine-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services); Carolina Prado from Intel; David Grinberg from Arcos Dorados; Diego Campal from the Argentina PR Professional  Council; Francisco Aylwin Oyarzún from FOCCO (Chilean Forum of Corporate Communication); Gladys Díaz from ARPR (PUERTO RICO PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION); Marcel Dellabarba from Samsung; Olga Oro from PRORP (Mexican Association of Public Relations Professionals); Thyago Mathias from LLYC; and Victor Pereira from Aberje. Notably, Samsung has pledged its support to the council's endeavors throughout 2024.

During the meeting, the newly inducted members engaged in fruitful discussions centered on crafting a comprehensive plan of action aimed at fostering greater professional integration, cultivating new alliances, and providing strategic guidance to enrich the understanding of the evolving role of communication leaders in Latin America. Given the prevalent organizational structures of multinational corporations, where communication leadership responsibilities span across multiple countries within the region, effective collaboration among professionals is paramount.

Additionally, participants delved into an exploration of the essential competencies required of communication leaders, as well as the intricacies of communication practices within diverse national contexts and the role of associations in navigating regulatory disparities.

The meeting, conducted virtually, epitomizes the concerted efforts of the Global Alliance's regional councils, entrusted with the task of conceptualizing and implementing initiatives at the regional level, subject to approval by the Global Alliance board of directors, under the auspices of the General Secretariat. Their collective mission is to advance the organization's objectives and orchestrate activities aligned with its mandate within the Latin American region.
