East Africa Public Relations Week Draws Over 300 Delegates to Arusha, Tanzania
Over 300 delegates from across the region gathered at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) for the East Africa Public Relations Week, a five-day event hosted by the Public Relations Society of Tanzania (PRST). Held from September 23rd to 27th, 2024, the event focused on fostering professional growth and collaboration within the public relations sector across East Africa.
In attendance were prominent PR practitioners, industry leaders, and academics, with discussions centered around the evolving role of public relations in driving sustainable development, corporate communications, and reputation management.
A key highlight of the week was the meeting between Prof. Justin Green, President & CEO of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, and Mr. Assah Mwambene, President of the Public Relations Society of Tanzania. Their discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships and creating a global network for PR professionals in the region.
Day 3 of East Africa Public Relations Week delved into the future with a session on “AI in Public Relations: A Transformative Ally or a Double-Edged Sword?” The discussion was led by Lyn Tukei (Uganda). It featured a dynamic panel including Moses Kemibaro (Kenya), Walter Wafula (Uganda), Pascal Mayalla (Tanzania), Lyn Tukei (Uganda), and Prof. Justin Green (Global Alliance).
Moderated by Sarah Banange (Uganda), the session explored AI's opportunities and challenges for the PR industry.
