Global Alliance Champions Mental Health Progress During Health and Wellbeing Month 2025

The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management proudly concludes Health and Wellbeing Month 2025, celebrating major milestones that advance mental health within the global public relations and communication profession. Through insightful discussions, strategic collaborations, and actionable commitments, this year’s program reinforces the professions collective responsibility to foster mentally healthy workplaces and industry cultures.

Key Milestones and Achievements:

1. Webinar: Myth Busting Resilience (January 13, 2025)

Led by Dr. Jaelea Skehan OAM, Director of Everymind, this session reframed resilience, emphasizing that sustainable mental health requires workplace-wide responsibility. Dr. Skehan stated, “Resilience isn’t about personal endurance; it’s about adaptability and the systems of support that organizations put in place. A sustainable, mentally healthy workplace is a shared responsibility.”

2. Webinar: Mental Health Perspectives Personal, Local, Global (January 30, 2025)

Featuring Dr. Michelle Funk, Head of Policy, Law, and Human Rights at the World Health Organization (WHO), and Dr. Celine Cole, WHO Consultant, this session underscored the interconnectedness of mental health initiatives. Dr. Funk noted, “Mental health is not an isolated issue. Meaningful change happens when individual, local, and global efforts work together to create sustainable systems of support.”

3. Strategic Collaboration with WHO QualityRights Initiative

Announced on January 21, 2025, the Global Alliance’s strategic collaboration with WHO QualityRights represents a pivotal step in strengthening mental health support across the PR and communication industry. This initiative will promote best practices, reduce stigma, and prioritize mental health as a fundamental professional and organizational priority

4. Release of the How We Are Working Mental Health and Wellbeing Snapshot Report

Launched during the January 30 webinar, the Snapshot Report provides key insights into mental health challenges and best practices within the industry. Recognizing the urgency of the findings, the Global Alliance Board has formally endorsed the report’s recommendations for immediate action. This commitment ensures that insights gathered will translate into meaningful policy and practice changes.

Professor Justin Green, President and CEO of the Global Alliance, reinforced the significance of these initiatives, stating:

“The Global Alliance is committed to driving real change in mental health and wellbeing across our profession. Through our strategic collaboration with WHO and the endorsement of the Snapshot Report’s recommendations, we are moving beyond discussion to concrete action that will create lasting impact.”

Jenny Muir, Chair of Health and Wellbeing Month 2025, issued a profession-wide call to action:

“This is a moment for collective leadership. As a global profession, we must build from strength to strength, embedding mental health as a priority in every organization, across every region, and within every professional culture. The responsibility to drive change lies with all of us.”

The Global Alliance congratulates the first cohort of members participating in the WHO QualityRights initiative and encourages all professionals to be part of this global movement for transformation.
